Who Is The Man To Take The People Of Nkwanta South To The Promised Land?
06.07.2016 LISTEN

At long last the 9th of July 2016 has been communicated to elect the man who would represent the people of Nkwanta South on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the upcoming 2016 general elections.

The Parliamentary seat since 1996 has been represented by the NDC and Hon. Gbediame Kofi Bediako Gershon despites efforts including the change of parliamentary candidates by the various political parties.

This year’s election is more likely to witness a historic change in the choice of the electorates either through the Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC or during the general elections.

Until his demise, Hon. Peter Kenyensu of blessed memory was largely tipped to represent the people of Nkwanta South in this 2016 general election and to lead them to the Promised Land after he had demonstrated to the people his able and unmatched leadership skills during his tenure as a District Chief Executive.

Already the New Patriotic Party has ‘appointed’ Hon. Edusei Cephas Kujo to contest the parliamentary seat on their ticket. The NDC on the other hand has slated 9th July to democratically elect one out of the five (5) parliamentary aspirants who will contest the general elections. The CPP, PNC, PPP, APC and the others are yet to present their candidates.

The question is who will be the ultimate man to take the people of Nkwanta South to the Promised Land, a land where development is a reality not a dream, who is the man?

Will it still be Hon. Gbediame Kofi Bediako Gershon, the Physics Teacher turned Politician who for the past 20years has been representing the Good people of Nkwanta South. Hon. Gbediame Kofi Bediako Gershon has been largely viewed as a peaceful man. His experience in local politics is uncontested fact. However bad one will think about Hon. Gbediame Kofi Bediako Gershon, he is still going to cause greater storm in this year's election been it the NDC primaries or the general election.

Or will the electorates democratically over the throw the Methuselah of the Nkwanta South Parliamentary seat. Should they thread on this path who will they endorse to wrestle and again keep Mr Edusei Kujo in his peaceful opposition? Mr Edusei a Headmaster and Educationist is already facing fierce opposition within his own party in the Constituency. The youth who think he is ‘autocratic and corrupt’ are calling for his removal and at the same time rooting for Mr Njonam Wisdom Wagya, a translator at the District Court. Mr. Njonam who made giant strides as an independent candidate in the 2012 general election is also facing same from the party Headquarters. They believe the gentle man is an allied of the NDC, a reason his loyalty to the party cannot be guaranteed. It is therefore unclear whether the NPP will maintain Mr Edusei or Mr. Njonam going into the 2012 general election.

Will the electorates actually confirm Dr Felix K. G. Anebo as their 'love bird’? Dr Felix K. G. Anebo the only PhD holder in the race is a Political Science lecture at the country's Premier University, University of Ghana and a businessman who owns a Sachet water producing factory employing some youths in the constituency. He also owns a hostel apartment that house some staffs of the St. Joseph's Hospital (Rentals), a hospital that is speedily outwitting the government hospital in the constituency (Note that it is a hospital where great brains are born, indeed I was born there).Dr is reported to have supported, sponsored and facilitated the travelling of about 40 plus youth of the constituency to lawfully seek greener pastures abroad including some undisclosed philanthropic activities within the length and breadth of the constituency.

He has gained enormous experience lecturing and nurturing politicians, lawyers, media practitioners and some management consultants. Indeed he is a man whose experience could greatly facilitate his advocacy skills in the house of parliament and among international organizations for developing the constituency. He is a humble, peaceful, gentle and listening man. He has received a million times informal endorsement by the electorates and executives of the NDC. Will this translate into vote to formally endorse him, is the question to be answered on the 9th of July.

Mr. Kini Geoffery is also in the race. His posters will normally welcome visitors into the District capital, Nkwanta. One may ask if there were other candidates in the contest.

Mr. Kini Geoffery is a local businessman owing some number of Fuel filling stations in the constituency; He is the only man in the contest who has never sourced employment from the government of Ghana. He indeed is the man always living with the grass root supporters despite his seemingly lack of experience in the Political atmosphere. Mr. Kini is reported to have single 'pocketly' funded the fencing of the Nkwanta SHS, the gravelling and leveling of unmemorable roads linking some local communities to the major roads. He has also engaged himself in some charitable activities including the distribution of salts, soaps, busing of people to and fro funeral grounds of some opinion leaders. Whiles his opponents call it 'vote buying agenda’. Some delegates call it a sign of benevolent leadership. To elect or not to elect is the absolute power of the electorates.

Mr. Narayana Osei-Nyarko Charles is a banker, politician and a youth activist. He is the youngest among the five aspirants of the NDC primaries. He believes that poverty has no reason to hold one back from climbing the ladder of leadership and that the youth are capable of taking leadership roles hence his popular slogans 'Ohiani Ba Nso W) Chance' (the poor has a chance too) and ' We can DO.. KEKE'. He has also impacted a lot of activities within the constituency despites resource constraints. He believes that the past should be remembered, a reason he organized a candle procession in honor of the late Peter Kenyensu of blessed memory. He has joined the youth in various political activities including peace walks within and without the Constituency. Mr. Charles sees himself as a commoner and that one’s position as a Member of Parliament should not be worshipped stead should make one available and accessible to the commoners. His message has been preached and heard by all. The ball is in the court of the electorates and will be decided on the 'judgment day'.

Mr. Solomon Sarpong Bagnan, a teacher by profession. Could he be the Solomon of the constituency in the coming election? His voice is well heard among the local folks but less in the Capital. A gentleman with greater motivation to propel Nkwanta South to the Promised Land.

There would however be more beyond getting elected as the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC in this Primary. The ultimate decision is of the masses to decide in the general election.

Any PC elected has to convince the masses of the constituency and justify what make him the best among the best in order to excel in the general election.

Whoever emerges winner should have it in mind that the youth of the constituency are now discerning and will query him of his promises to the people. You will be called to account to the people what you applied their mandate to. We want to see Nkwanta South transformed from its current state to a better state.

A constituency in which the many tourist potentials are discovered and transformed into employment factories. A constituency in which Health, Education and Security will no more be taken for granted. This is the constituency we all seek to be members. To the delegates, examine the future of yourself, children and grandchildren under the leadership of the various aspirants before ‘thumbing’

Wish all Aspirants Good Luck
