Accra, Feb. 23, GNA - The Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu Education Trust Fund (SONSETFUND) which was established six years ago is making strides in helping to promote education in the various Muslim communities.
Speaking in an interview, Alhaji Khuzaimah Mohammed Osman, Secretary to the Fund, said as a result of their efforts, many Muslim students have been able to continue their education to the Senior High School (SHS) and the tertiary level.
'I feel excited to report that apart from the high number of students we have been supporting to the SHS, a total of 1,300 Muslim students in our universities have also benefited from the SONSETFUND in collaboration with the Students Loan Trust Fund,' he said.
He said SONSETFUND also used some of its proceeds to renovate two Junior High Schools in the Northern Region, namely Limanyirri school and Ambariya Islamic school at a cost of GHȼ 180,000.00.
He gave the assurance that the Fund would continue to support needy but brilliant students in the Muslim communities, as well as help in building needed educational infrastructure.
Alhaji Khuzaima commended the National Chief of Ghana for embracing the scheme and urged other religious leaders to emulate the gesture to enable them support Ghana's education.
He said the Fund thrives on donations and appealed to corporate bodies and philanthropists to support the Fund and enable it fulfill its objectives.
