Former Public Relations Manager of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Razak Kojo Opoku, has raised concerns about what he describes as inconsistencies in claims made by media executive and anti-corruption advocate Sulemana Braimah regarding the NLA–KGL Technology Limited partnership.
He argues that varying financial figures attributed to Mr Braimah over the past year cast doubt on the accuracy and credibility of his assertions about the impact of the arrangement on state revenues.
According to Mr Opoku, Mr Braimah stated on August 5, 2025, that Ghana was losing “millions every week” due to the deal. He is also said to have claimed on September 19, 2025, that a GHS3 billion business had been awarded to KGL for GHS170 million.
More recently, in a social media post dated June 3, 2026, Mr Braimah allegedly stated that the country is losing about GHS1 billion annually under the same arrangement.
Mr Opoku contends that these shifting figures raise questions about the consistency and evidential basis of the claims being made against the partnership.
He further argues that a committee established by the President to review aspects of the NLA–KGL arrangement did not conclude that the state was losing millions weekly, nor did it establish losses of GHS3 billion or GHS1 billion annually as alleged.
He also maintains that the committee did not recommend terminating or cancelling the partnership, contrary to calls from some critics.
Supporters of the arrangement have suggested that Mr Braimah’s long-standing criticism of KGL may be shaping his conclusions, which they argue are not fully supported by available evidence.
