Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie says if the embattled suspended Chairman, Paul Afoko together with the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong both mean well for the party, that should be demonstrated through their deeds.
” You brought a new cliche to the party- [let the structures work], why are you making a u-turn to set aside the same structures you’re preaching about” the former Executive of the party popularly known as Sir john said.
He said it is better they [ Afoko/Agyepong] honourably bow out, if they are not ready to respect the norms and party structures.
“Why do you want to destroy the party; why should a whole chairman flout orders of the party. It is in the best interest of the party that the leaders have taken such decisions, and we must all ensure we go by their decision.Paul is a very good man. I know him, but it is sad those behind him are destroying him gradually, he told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Tuesday.
According to Sir John, every decision of the elephant family concerning the latest events, he says will be one that will smoothen the rough edges and help retire its troubles by close of the month.
The suspended chairman of the NPP on Monday petitioned the National Council of the party against constitutional breaches that led to what he says is usurpation of his office.
The 14-page petition to the Council was received and filed by the party’s General Secretary, Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
Mr Agyepong is expected to inform the council for further action.
