Teknocrats join Dr Evans-Anfom to celebrate 96th birthday

Accra, Oct. 10, GNA - The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Alumni Association (Teknokrats) joined the family of Dr Emmanuel Evans- Anfom in a church service at his residence in Accra, to celebrate his 96th birthday.

Born on October 7, 1919 Dr Evans-Anform, is a distinguished Surgeon, Scientist, Scholar, Sportsman, Educationist, Administrator, Counsellor on Public Affairs and a Humanitarian.

He was the Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST from 1967 to 1973, the second Vice-Chancellor of the University in succession to the late Dr R.P. Baffour.

The Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana gave an exhortation at the service.

Mr Felix Owusu Agyapong, Vice President of the Students Representative Council during Dr Evans-Anfom tenure as Vice Chancellor and other members of the Alumni Association, presented a birthday cake and other items to Dr Evans-Anfom.

Those present at the event include Ms Eunice Akosua Ofosuaa Amoako, the Global President of the Association, Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Mr Emmanuel Agyarko and a lot of Teknokrats from across the country.

Dr Evans- Anfom was a product of Osu Salem (Presbyterian) School, Achimota College and Edinburgh University, where he graduated in Medicine in 1947.

He has a number of publications including books as well as articles published in local and international journals of high repute to his credit.

As a past Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST, he gave an excellent contribution to the academic and administrative development of the university and to higher education in the country as a whole.

The Alumni Association of KNUST, was established in 1961, with a vision of advancing knowledge in science and technology for sustainable development in Africa. GNA
