GMA Unhappy Over 'Dead Goat Mahama'

Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has expressed grave displeasure over President Mahama's claim that he will not be coerced by the incessant demonstration against government.

The president in reaction to the incessant strikes and demonstrations that has rocked government said he has “a dead goat syndrome” to deal with it.

Addressing a Ghanaian population in Botswana, President Mahama said “when you kill a goat and you frighten it with a knife, it doesn't fear the knife because it is dead already”.

This, the Ghana Medical Association, maintains is a bad labour relations practice.

In an interview with Adom News, General Secretary of the GMA, Dr. Frank Serebuor, expressed shock at President Mahama's comment.

He indicated that workers in the country don't go on strike to make government unpopular, but to ensure the right thing is done.

“Going on strike is one of the tools the labour law allows, but it seems by this comment, President Mahama has taken an entrenched position,” he added.

Dr. Serebuor said if that is the position of the president then “we will also advised ourselves”.
