Interdicted Director of Korle-Bu Pharmacy 'happy' with forensic audit

Interdicted Director of Pharmacy at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Mrs. Elizabeth Bruce is 'happy' that revelations of a forensic audit have shown “clearly” that the department cannot be responsible for the misappropriation of GH₵ 946,574.29.

Elizabeth Bruce told Joy News although “there are still question marks on the pharmacists”, the work of accountants in the finance department has been brought under scrutiny in the forensic audit.

The Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday interdicted Mrs. Elizabeth Bruce and nine other employees of the hospital.

The other employees indicted include a pharmacy manager, a principal pharmacist, 3 senior pharmacists, 2 pharmacy accountants, the chief cashier and a stores assistant.

In her first media interview since the interdiction, Mrs. Elizabeth Bruce said she was “happy that this forensic audit has stated clearly that it is not the pharmacists, it cannot be the pharmacists”.

“Now the finance department and accountants have been brought in so now we need to investigate and find out who is actually culpable and I am happy that investigations will go underway” she maintained.

The Director welcomed an administrative inquiry set to determine culpability of the persons interdicted.

“This audit has shown exactly what was wrong then so we will just stand by and let the investigations go on.”
