Supreme Head of Ahmadiyya Movement calls on President Kufuor

Accra, March 15, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday said leadership in every endeavour must be used to serve humanity to maintain peace, unity and prosperity.

He said any Leader whether in religion, politics or a community who failed to serve humanity did not qualify to be a leader. President Kufuor made the observation when Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, Supreme Head of the world-wide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community currently on a 12-day visit to Ghana paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu.

He commended the Ahmadiyya Movement in Ghana for their contribution to in the health; agriculture and education and observed that schools the Movement maintained were among the most disciplined in Ghana. President Kufuor said Ghana shared in the honour of the election of Hadrat Ahmad, who served in Ghana from 1977 to 1985. Hadrat Ahmad commended the Government for the peace in Ghana and the tremendous improvement in the infrastructure and socio-economic development.

Maulvi Wahab Adam, Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Ghana, said Ghana was the first country to be visited by the Supreme Leader after his election on April 22, last year.

He said Hadrat Ahmad would participate in the 75th Annual Convention of the Movement at Ashongman this month.

The Movement has been established in 170 countries in the world. While in Ghana, Hadrat Ahmad was the Principal of the Ahmadiyya Secondary School at Salaga for two years and Principal of Ahmadiyya Secondary School at Essarkyir for four years. He was also the Manager of Ahmadiyya Agricultural Farm in Northern Ghana for two years during which he successfully planted and nurtured wheat for the first time in Ghana.
