The Chief Executive Officer of Afrigenius LLC - an investment partnership firm - is expected to market Ghana at the upcoming Africa 2012 MVNOs Industry summit as he joins 40 speakers from across the Africa.
The summit, which is being organised by Informa Telecoms and Media, a leading UK-based event and conference firm dedicated to the IT and Telecommunication Industry, is to be held in South Africa on 2nd and 3rd October.
The MVNOs are seeking to address challenges in the telecom industry, believing there exist many market segments untapped by mobile network operators amongst which are ethnic markets, data-only connectivity, community-led discounted and retailer-owned MVNOs.
Mr Frederick Attah Agyei will speak on the theme: "Why Ghana? Why West Africa; Assessing the appetite for MVNO launch in Ghana. Opportunities and Challenges and Overview of the Market".
He told Myjoyonline.com that he will be presenting “the myriads of opportunities for MVNO industry players in Ghana coupled with the stable political and economic atmosphere Ghana has enjoyed, is currently enjoying and the bright future [of the industry]”.
Describing himself as “an Investment Consultant and an entrepreneur gifted with the eye of spotting viable business opportunities from afar…” Mr Attah Agyei believes that “through the efforts of his competent team at Afrigenius, coupled with their can-do attitude and by the Grace of God, local Ghanaian entrepreneurs and investors will be seen entering into the juicy telco industry, sharing the market and also taking their brands global.”
“I would learn more, get connected and network with key players within the MVNO industry and come back fully armed to assist local investors to successfully launch MVNOs in Ghana and within the West African sub-region as that has been my business,” he assured, adding that “I am also glad successful luncheons would bring more money and jobs to the economy,” he added.
He insisted that the ideal moment to launch the MVNO concept in Ghana and West Africa is now because mobile penetration rate is close to 90% and the market is saturated.
Amongst those attending the summit are global key industry players such as the Head of Value Added Service of Globacom Nigeria, Samson Isa, African Broadband Forum chairman, William Hearmon, Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor of the National Communication Authority of Ghana, and International Settlement and Roaming Manager/Uganda Telecom, Ann N. Nsubuga.
