Jomoro District exceeds revenue target

Half Assini (W/R), Sept. 20, GNA – The Jomoro District Assembly in the Western Region, for the first time in recent years, exceeded its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) target for the year by 108 per cent.

This achievement, realised by the middle of the year, was due to frantic efforts on realistic, accurate and comprehensive revenue data put in place.

Mr Sylvester N. Daddieh, Jomoro DCE, said this in his Second Sessional Address of the Sixth Assembly at Half Assini on Tuesday.

He said the IGF projected for this year was GH¢ 415,947.80 but by the second quarter of the year GH¢1,168,534.13 had already been realised giving an excess of GH¢ 752,586.33.

Mr Daddieh said this year, the assembly had introduced new revenue item codenamed "articulated truck for peeled coconut" after missing in the system conspicuously over the years.

He said if all the revenue loopholes were plugged and measures instituted were strictly applied, the assembly would again exceed its revenue target next year.

The DCE therefore expressed his profound gratitude to all who contributed in diverse ways to make the assembly achieve this milestone.

Earlier, the Presiding Member of the assembly, Mr Francis Ehwi Armah, in his welcoming address, implored all political parties in the district to undertake their campaign without violence.

He prayed that the general election would pass on smoothly and urged the youth and the citizenry to be conscious of peace.

The House adopted an executive committee report laid before it by the DCE.
