OSU TRADITIONAL COUNCIL INAUGRATED

As part of effort been made by the Greater Accra Regional House of chiefs to resolved disputes at the Ga state,OSU Traditional Area has inaugurated a twelve-member Traditional Council to match its new paramountcy status with Osu Mantse, Nii Kinka Dowuona VI urging the Osu people to rally behind the council to ensure transformation, rapid development and progress in the community.

Among the Eminent council members are namely Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI the President of the Paramountcy, Osu Mantse, Nuumo Gbelenfo III, Osu Guan Wulomo, Nuumo Narku Agbeti II, Osu Klottey Wulomo, Nii Ako Notei IV, Osu Mankralo and Nii Kwei Boadu III, Osu Chief Linguist.

The council members took the oath of allegiance on Friday September 14, 2012 during an inaugural ceremony held at Osu Dadebuenaa.

The ceremony signified Osu's elevation from a divisional status to paramountcy status.

The Osu Mantse Nii Kinka VI thanked the government and nation as well as the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs for the role they played in the elevation of Osu to its current status saying he would leave no stone unturned in developing the area.

“I will leave no stone unturned to work towards the development, peace and unity in the traditional area, Greater Accra and Ghana as a whole,” he said.

The Osu Mantse observed that chieftaincy was the embodiment ofGhana's culture and therefore could not be relegated to the background.

President of the Greater-Accra Regional House, Nene Kabu Akuaku III who was the Guest of Honour said the chieftaincy institution was a noble one urging chiefs to ensure the amicable settlement of disputes in order to maintain peaceful coexistence in society.

Nene Akuaku who is also the Ada Mantse wished the people of Osu well and tasked them to get involved by rendering the needed support to the council to function in its best capacity for the benefit of the indigenes.

The inauguration of the Osu Traditional Council brings to three the number of such ceremonies held in recent times to outdoor three out of the six divisional areas so far elevated to paramountcies.

These include La, Teshie, Nungua, Ngleshie Alata and Tema, Osu Traditional Area has over fifteen towns and villages under it.
