Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International calls for prayers for Ghana

Koforidua, Aug. 31 GNA - Mr George Prah, National President of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International, has called on Christians to pray for divine peace before, during and after the December polls.

He said peace was necessary for Ghana during the general election to ensure that Ghanaians continued to enjoy the prevailing peace.

Mr Prah made the call at the opening of the 2012 Eastern Regional Convention of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) in Koforidua on Friday.

He said: “Peace is a product of prayer,” and it was through persistent prayers that made God to intervene to make the 2008 general election violence free.

He urged politicians to be circumspect in their utterances, desist from using abusive and intemperate language in their submissions, learn to be tolerant to each other's view and pay attention to political parties' code of conduct to ensure clean electioneering period.

“We are one nation, one people, with one common destiny and must therefore ensure peace, safety and security of Ghana,” he said.

Mr Prah urged political parties contesting this year's election to ensure that the elections were held under the atmosphere of peace and tranquility devoid of any form of violence.

He said considering what was happening in other countries in Africa and elsewhere as a result of political unrest, Ghanaians could not afford to lose the prevailing peace they are enjoying.

Mr Prah, therefore, appealed to leadership of all the political parties to press upon their followers to be circumspect in their utterances in order not to inflame passions.

He advised Christian politicians to let the presence of Jesus Christ, who is the King of Peace, be felt in all their political activities.

Mr Prah gave the assurance that the Christian community would at all times seek to maintain the integrity of the ballot as a means of choosing legitimate leaders for the country.

Mr Addo Larbi, former Headmaster of Suhum Senior High and Technical School, called on Ghanaian entrepreneurs not to be satisfied with their success stories and neglect their commitment and partnership with God and moral principles.

He said businessmen must come into terms with the biblical fact that they were reaping profit from their business as a result of the Grace of God which is sufficient for them.

He stressed the need for businessmen to turn to God and use their wealth to support the ministry of God.

Mr Kwabena Kwakye Yeboah, National Director in charge of Eastern Region, said there were 14 chapters in the region and trying hard to increase the number to 22.

Rev K. Okoh Kyeremateng, Prayer and Counseling Committee Chairman, later led the house to pray for the Presidency, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament and the nation in general.
