Sekondi, Aug 19, GNA – Sheik Ostaz Ali Hassan, Western Region Chief Imam, on Sunday, called on Muslims across the country to promote peaceful co-existence by their activities, particularly, as the country goes to the polls in December.
He said without peace, forgiveness and a congenial atmosphere, there could be no meaningful development. “We should strive to love one another and let true peace prevail.”
Sheik Hassan was speaking at the Regional prayers organized at the Railway Park in Sekondi to end the month-long fasting and prayer and usher in the Eid-ul –Fitr.
Muslims use the Ramadan as a period of sanctification and spiritual renewal by Allah.
Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, said the unity of purpose exhibited by Ghanaians regardless of any political affiliation particularly during death and funeral rites of President John Evan Atta Mills should be a goad in a quest to develop the country.
The Minister said government would continue to operate an open door policy to welcome discussions and issues that border on the development and wellbeing of the country.
Mr. Aidoo encouraged the Muslim community to also pray for the peace in conflict areas of the country, the sub-region and the world at large.
