Accra, Aug 3, GNA - Ghanaians will now be able to buy genuine Apple ipads following CORE Group Africa, Apple's distributor, to begin sales through approved outlets in the country.
Mrs Taryn Hyam, Communication Manager of CORE Group Africa told journalists in Accra that official distributors of the products would be introduced to customers at a special event on Saturday August 4th.
“It is our firm belief that the opening of the official outlets to allow customers buy genuine ipads from authorised distributors will eliminate the problem customers' face getting the products from third parties,” she said.
As part of the deal, the company will also offer two-year warranty on ipads purchased from the authorized distributors.
In addition, buyers will also benefit from good customer services, training on the use of the ipads and after sales support from the trained resellers.
Mrs Hyam said Apple entry into the Ghanaian market was not for it to compete with other products but rather to ensure that more Ghanaians enjoy the full range of applications and opportunities that the use of ipads provided.
She said Apple was committed to its warranty offer to customers and would not go back on its word to fix or replace products in line with its policy once the product was bought from authorized distributor.
This, Mrs Hyam said, would provide the necessary guarantee to customers that they would get the necessary service support in-country for the product.
To ensure that only genuine ipads benefit from the warranty, Mrs Hyam said buyers of the product would be encouraged to register them at isocietyghana.com and on registration receive a message to show whether the product purchased is genuine or not.
On the high cost of the product, Mrs Hyam said, the company was looking at a hire-purchase plan where payment for the product could be made on instalment basis, adding that once those plans were firmed up it would be communicated to the market.
Core Group Africa is responsible for the distribution of Apple ipads in Ghana, Nigeria, Southern Africa and Angola.
