The Vice President-designate, Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur says those who doubt his loyalty to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have not really known him.

Following his nomination as vice president under extraordinary circumstances triggered by the sudden death of President John Atta Mills last week, many in the NDC have expressed skepticism about Mr Amissah-Arthur's ability to make any significant impact on the electoral chances of the NDC.

Some have argued that he has not been known as a core member of the NDC.

But in his first interview since his nomination Tuesday, the immediate past Central Bank Governor said “I really don't know what they mean by not being in the front-line of main politics.”

He said he was a founding member of the NDC and participated fully in all the electoral campaigns of the party.

“I participated fully in the campaigns in '92 and '96 and also in 2000; even though I was not in government, I traveled with Prof. Mills all over the country and I was a member of the Central Regional team in the campaigns so I've participated in almost all the campaigns in this country that the NDC has waged,” he said.
