NDC East Africa Consoles Mrs. Naadu-Mills

Members of NDC East Africa send their sincere condolences to Dr(Mrs) Naadu-Mills, the son of Professo Atta-Mills,his extended family, the NDC and the entirety of Ghanaians on the sudden demise of the president of Ghana Prof Atta Mills. News reports from both electronic and print media in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda captured the sad newrs a few hours after it occurred.

The general impression is that Ghana is as usual the shining star and a model of democracy in Africa. This is heart-warming and we take credits for that. Ghana again demonstrated democratic maturity beautifully with the immediate swearing in of the vice-president as president of Ghana.

The NDC East Africa congratulates Mr John Mahama and hope he will ensure the country weather the storm during the December parliamentary and presidential elections. Ghana is touted as ahead of many African countries in democracy but we must admit it is internally bedeviled with ethnic and chieftaincy disputes. Chieftaincy disputes are a huge task our new president should tackle and in this regard, we will like Ghanaians to know that chieftaincy disputes are unheard of in some African countries like Tanzania. Chieftaincy as an institution was abolished and it is really a very peaceful country. Language barrier is a cause for disputes and Tanzania has solved this by using the Swahili language spoken by everybody and it it seves as a national language. Swahili is a combination of local languages. Ghana can emulate this by tasking linguistic experts to start a process of getting a language which is conglomeration of main local languages.

NDC should look at solving its internal conflicts by encouraging marriage of convenience like bringing on board Mrs Agyemang Rawlings as a running mate to NDC flagbearer or even as vice-president. This will make NDC stronger to fight the very strong opposition in Ghana.
