ACCA engages SMEs on Ghana’s integrated tax regime

The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, ACCA Ghana, has been engaging small scale businesses in Kumasi on current issues on taxation and access to finance.

The public forum explored issues within Ghana's tax system under the Ghana Revenue Authority integration and how they affect various industries.

Business Development Manager of ACCA, Kofi Tandoh told Luv Biz Report providing professional accounting support to SMEs is critical to widen their economic and social contributions.

He observed the crucial role of SMEs in growing the economy and generating employment for professional accountants.

“ACCA's interest in SMEs goes beyond commercial considerations. Some of the core ACCA values, namely diversity, innovation and opportunity, can be substantially increased by supporting small businesses; thus a focus on SMEs is part of wider commitment to working in the public interest”, noted Mr. Tandoh.

The forum was in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank and Ikem & Associates.

Managing Partner at the Accounting firm, Isaac Nyame spoke on the future trends of taxation under the integration of the revenue collection agencies.

He emphasized the need for accountants to be abreast with provisions in the tax law if their organizations are to be compliant.

Standard Chartered Bank's Kwabena Boateng offered valuable advice on how businesses can access finance for their operations.
