Thirty eight-year-old Ernest Adjei Arhin, a staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who claims to be the special assistant to the District Chief Executive of the Kintampo South District in the Brong Ahafo Region, has been arrested after jumping bail for over five months.
A source from the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command told DAILY GUIDE that Arhin, an alleged chainsaw operator, late last year allegedly took money from some Chinese investors to the tune of GH¢10,000 under the pretence of supplying them with timber logs.
The NDC boy was however arrested by the Brong Ahafo Regional Command after a report was made that he had refused to honour his promise to the Chinese businessmen in January 2012.
He was granted bail on January 26, 2012 but went into hiding after his bail and the man who stood as his surety, Raphael Cubagee, popularly known as Shamo Quaye, was subsequently arrested.
However, luck eluded Arhin when he was smoked out of his hideout at Jema in the Kintampo South District yesterday, Monday, June 11, 2012 upon a tip-off.
DAILY GUIDE's source revealed that Arhin resisted arrest. He broke his handcuff, fought the policeman and took to his heels but onlookers helped in arresting him.
Sources from the Regional Police Command indicated that he was granted bail when some high ranking members of the NDC allegedly paid GH¢2000 to the police.
Speaking to Mr. Cubagee after the alleged con man was granted bail, he accused the police of using their outfit as a point of settling bills instead of taking matters brought to them to court.
When DAILY GUIDE contacted the policeman handling the case, he said his superiors were not around to talk to the paper.
