Fifi Kwetey wins Ketu-South primaries

Agbozume, May 27, GNA - Mr Fifi Kwetey, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, has emerged as the Ketu-South Constituency Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress for Election 2012.

At the delayed constituency primaries held on Saturday at Agbozume, Mr Kwetey polled 403 votes, or 69 per cent to beat the incumbent, Mr Albert Zigah, who attracted 60 votes, representing 10.2 per cent to place third among the seven contestants.

A total of 587 delegates participated in the polls.

The large number of security personnel present during the more than eight hours congress had a hectic time controlling the crowd particularly during the counting and declaration of the result.

All the defeated candidates took turns to concede defeat and lend support to Mr Kwetey, except Mr Zigah, who sneaked out of the room unnoticed.

Mr Kwetey said he was overwhelmed by the confidence reposed in him and assured the people that he would not fail them.

He promised to use all resources at his disposal to create opportunities for the youth in the area.
