CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR CONTAFRIKANAME FOR ALL CONT/DIASPORA AFRIKANS,
By COPYRIGHT (2011) Prof Afrikadzata Deku, Docteur d'Etat, PhD; *Doctorat d'Etat (Ph.D.) * D.E.S.S. (M. Phil) * Diplome De L' I.I.A.P.(Post-Grad. Dipl.) * M.Sc. * BA. Double Majors * Emails: [email protected],
The main Characteristics or Features of our Continental AfrikaName can be characterized as follows:
1) Birthday Name which is given to the Continental Afrikan child to mark and honor the Spirit or the Deity of the particular Day he/she is born.
That is why among the Ga, Ewe and Akan of West Afrika for example, a Monday-born male child is Kodzo and female is ADZO.
Tuesday-born male child becomes KOMLA and Female is ABLA.
Wednesday-born male child is named KOKU and female is AKU. Thursday-born male is YAO and female is YAWA.
Friday-born male child is KOFI and female AFI .
Saturday-born male child is KWAMI and female is AMI.
Sunday-born male child is KOSSI and female is KOSIWA.
This means, any time one is called by the day of one's birth, the power and the blessings of the Spirit or Deity of the Day of one's birth are automatically invoked and showered upon the caller and the bearer/receiver of the given name.
Our Continental AfrikaBirthday Names are therefore a spirit link between the name of the Spirit or Deity of the Birthday Name we bear and do honor to.
This means, living constantly in tune to the power and blessings of the Spirit of the Day we were born and named after.
Besides, our Continental AfrikaBirthday Names also serve as a reminder to the Truth that the visible and the invisible, nature and man are One as manifestation of One and same Universal Spirit, Energy and Power AFRIKAMAWU.
It must be noted that when Western or non-Afrikan world talks of one's Birthday i.e. the day one is born, they do not give the exact name of the Day one is born as today's Traditional Afrikans still do because they forgot as a people to name themselves after the day of their birth.
Instead, they give as their birthday names Christian names or Moslem names or Jewish names which are not and cannot be birthdays, meaning the day one is born.
This means, naming people after the days of their births is therefore an Ancient Continental AfrikaPractice that is as old as the world.
That is why today's non-Afrikan world has totally forgotten to remember the days of their births let alone name themselves after the Days of their births.
This also explains why only few of the today's Traditional Afrikans still remember and practice this ancient Continental AfrikaWay of naming Continental Afrikans.
In addition it must be remembered that when, for example, there are more than one Kofi in a given family or community, our people use their intelligence or common sense to distinguish one Kofi from another Kofi like Kofi the short, Kofi the tall, Kofi the gentle, Kofi the generous etc.
Besides, another major form of our Continental AfrikaName is what we shall call
2) Mission of Life Names which are given to the Continental Afrikan child and adult as a summary of his/her Mission/life on earth which is received after intensive consultation with the Spirit of the new baby-born within the first eight days the child is born by the Elders through their Priest and Priestesses on whether the Spirit of the new born baby is a reincarnated Ancestor or a new Spirit visiting them, his/her Purpose/Mission/Reason for choosing them as host and what the Spirit of their new-born baby is coming to do, how, why and for how long his/her Spirit is going to be with them.
For example, AFRIKADZATA is my Continental AfrikaMission Name Divinely given to me as a constant reminder of what my Spirit has destined myself to be on earth and what Spirit Mission I am on.
So, the more I call or I am called by my Life Mission Name , AFRIKADZATA, the more I am destined to grow and become the Continental AfrikaLion that I am born to be: brave, strong, courageous, all powerful, all royal, with all the means I need and want as the Reincarnated Spirit of AFADEWO MENA on a Mission to awaken, unify, empower , liberate, protect and defend the Continental AfrikaHomeland as the real fearless and all powerful Continental AfrikaLion King will do.
This means, total love, kindness and protection for his family and loved ones but danger for the enemies of his loved ones.
This means, by my name AFRIKADZATA and my total faith and belief in it, I have become the Almighty Continental AfrikaLion King not to devour my own Continental AfrikaFamily because lions do not devour their own Families but do guarantee peace and security to my Continental Afrikan Family that nobody dares attack, or conquer or control because they know Continental Afrika now has her Lion to defend her and crash any aggression against the continent.
Other Continental Afrikan Mission Names include DZIGBODI or Patience for those who are here to learn to be patient in life.
Those who are here to express total faith in the Creator are given AFRIKAMAWU based Names such as AFRIKAMAWUYO, i.e. AFRIKAMANU IS GOOD, SELIKPLIM, i.e. AFRIKAMAWU is with me, MAWUKO i.e. only AFRIKAMAWU or Gye Nyame , SELIKEM i.e. AFRIKAMAWU has fortified me; AFRIKAMAWUVI i.e., the child of AFRIKAMAWU , AFRIKAMAWU YRAM i.e. AFRIKAMAWU has blessed me , ENYONAM , i.e. I am Okay in life etc
Those who are here to learn how to be victorious in life are called DZIDULA i.e., the victorious one , the strong ones in life are named after Powerful animal like DZATA i.e. lion; GBETE i.e. LEOPARD; ATIGLINYI i.e. elephant, DZAKPATA i.e. cobra and so on .
The soft and gentle Spirits or people are named after gentle beings like EKLO i.e., tortoise, AGAMA i.e. Chameleon, and so on.
In other words, Continental Afrikan Mission or Life Names are given to us as a daily expression and reminder of who we are, what or who we want to be in life, our life Mission or Agenda, our State of Mind, and Being, our Character, our Beliefs and Faith in the Creator AFRIKAMAWU , our Oneness with Nature, the Environment and the Universe.
And the more we are called by our Continental Afrikan Mission or life Names, the more we believe and have faith in them, and the more we accept, and think like the Power behind of our names, speak, act and become One with the Spirit, Power and Energy of what our Continental Afrikan Names represent, incarnate and mean to us.
In addition, we also have what we shall call
3) Continental AfrikaFamily Name given to Continental Afrikans in honor of the greatest, the bravest, the most honest, just, virtuous, and sincere Ancestor of one's family that has attained Sainthood, Perfection or Oneness with our Creator AFRIKAMAWU through his/her Good Deeds to the living in life and after death.
So, our Continental Afrikan Family Names are the most holy, the most sacred, and the most precious priceless Gift we can ever get from members of our Family.
To have and be called after one's Divine, Ancestor or Spirit Entity is to perpetually feel empowered and secured in the knowledge of the fact that one is never alone but securely joined to the omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient care, protection, love, peace and harmony of our Divine, Ancestral and Spirit Beings, Energy, Power and Spirit whose names we bear and seek to become.
Besides, our Continental Afrikan Family Names also keep us upright, honest, and correct in Thoughts, Words and Deeds since we will not want to disgrace the precious Memories of those we are named after with negative, evil, criminal or sinful ways of life and being.
Finally, in between our three major Continental AfrikaNames that Continental Afrikans bear in one form or the other, we can also talk of Sacred Continental AfrikaNames given to Afrikans by Ancient or Traditional Continental Afrikan Mystery Schools to mark an end of one's old life and the beginning of a new Spirit Self , with sacred Spirit Mission and sacred Spirit Powers or Means to fulfill it for the benefits of all lives.
After one's initiation, training and graduation from one of our sacred and secret Religious or Spirit mystery Schools, one comes out as a new person speaking a new Ancient Continental AfrikaLanguage (that is not understood by the non-initiated) with new AfrikaName(s) and a new way of life, thinking and being which totally forbid being called by one's old AfrikaNames.
For example, my mother lost her former AfrikaNames and became DASI i.e. the queen/wife of the Serpent Spirit or Deity after her Spirit initiation and training.
And up until now, none of us (her twelve children) knows her former names called AHEMENKOR.
Some other Continental Afrikan Sacred names include SOVI , i.e. the child of the Thunder Deity; MISISO i.e. respect or beware of So, the Thunder Deity; HUNOR i.e. the chief or Head of Hu or the Deity Hu etc.
In addition, we also have special Secular Continental AfrikaNames called {AHANONKOR) given or taken in Praise of one's special gift, power, talent, or achievement for which one is known or wants to be known by one's peers and others.
They are series of positive Attributes that are recited after one's name is called.
For example, as soon as I am called AFRIKADZATA, I will reply: DZATA DEGBE LAWO BE , meaning when Dzata the lion roars, all else is quiet.
The Ashanti and the Anlo use these positive attributes a lot for their kings through their Praise-Singers/Poets/Historians and through the atumpani or talking drums as a way of paying tributes to the Uniqueness, Originality , Powers , Bravery and Feats of their Leaders through our professional Praise Singers, Community Historians, Poets and Griots.
