Accra, Nov. 30, GNA - The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) on Tuesday received donations from stakeholders in the private sector towards this years Farmers' Day celebration in Accra.
The Ministry received equipment and cheques totalling more than GHȼ 3,058,000 from some companies including a harrow, bicycle, quantities of liquid fertilisers, motor cycles, plasma TV, polytanks and insecticide spraying machines.
Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Food and Agriculture receiving the equipment and cheques expressed appreciation to the managements of the companies for their support to honour farmers and fishermen in the country.
He said the range of awards this year would be increased and commended the collaboration and teamwork between the stakeholders for their sacrifice to make the celebration a memorable one.
The companies that presented the items included Tropico Agriseed Limited, Ghana Industrial Trawlers Association, Japan Motors, Agrana Ghana Limited, Gokals Limited, Sidalco Company, Polytank company, C.Woerman Ghana Limited, GNPA, West African Market Link, GIHOC Distilleries, Ghana Chamber of Mines and Ghana Life Insurance Company.
