
Anloga, Nov 30, GNA-Mrs Georgina Wood, Chief Justice has commended the Keta Municipal Assembly for constructing a modern court building for the Magistrates Court at Anloga.
The 400-seating capacity building, with seven offices and other auxiliary units cost Gh¢ 144,000.00.
In a speech read on her behalf at the inauguration of the new court building at Anloga, Mrs Wood said the rapid manner at which the facility was put up demonstrated the commitment of the Assembly to support the Judiciary.
She said as the third arm of state, the Judiciary was committed to ensuring fairness, impartiality and transparency in the discharge of justice to ensure peace and national development.
Mrs Wood charged workers of the Judicial Service to be diligent in their duties, avoid indiscipline, and keep in mind the recent allegations of bribery and corruption against the Judiciary.
She also appealed to the public to assist the judiciary to perform creditably, saying that all must be law-abiding.
Togbe Sri III, Awomefia of Anlo appealed to citizens to cooperate with the courts and other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace in the area.
Mr Sylvester Tornyeava, Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the Assembly decided to put up the court building because refurbishing the old one was not prudent.
He said the Assembly had also rehabilitated the Circuit Court building at Keta, and constructed a bungalow for the Magistrate at Abor.
Mr Tornyeava said a permanent Magistrate's Court building for Abor was also in the offing.
