Takoradi, Nov. 30, GNA — The 21 Ghanaian workers of Weatherford Services Limited, an oil and gas service company based in Takoradi, who were locked out by the management of the company have been re-called.
Mr. Francis Sellah, the Industrial Relations Officer for the General Transport and Petroleum Chemical Workers Union for Western and Central regions, told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that there was a meeting between the management of the company, the regional labour officer, the workers and himself yesterday.
He said after lengthy discussions, the workers agreed on 21.75 percent upward salary adjustment that would take retrospective effect from May to December this year.
Mr. Sallah said management also agreed to fulfill the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement agreed upon with the past management.
The management agreed to pay the transport allowances of the workers and signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) as well.
Mr. Sellah said the Human Resource Manager, Ms Josephine Klinam Ewusi, who was dismissed by the management last week, was contacted but she said she was not interested to work with the company again.
Nonetheless, the company agreed to pay her severance package, arrears and all the incentives due her.
The workers demonstrated at the company's premises against the management on November 28 to express their displeasure over intimidation, poor working conditions and arbitrary dismissal of workers.
