Newly elected NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North constituency, Ras Mubarak says he will present a united front to wrestle power from the NPP which has held the Ablekumah North seat for sixteen years.

Ras intimated that though the NPP has held the seat for sixteen years, difficulties facing Ablekuma North had worsened as they had failed to tackle them. He explained that his strategy for the 2012 elections was to present local issues facing the constituency to the delegates since a victory for him was a victory for the NDC.

He said though it was difficult winning power from the NPP from 2001 to 2008 since the MP at that time was a minister, the ball had turned in his favour since the current MP had lost a huge percentage of votes when he took over from Kwamina Bartels.

Ras also added that with the NDC currently in power and the current MP being an "obscure back bencher" he was sure of victory but was quick to add that honourable Joe Appiah would not be under estimated.

In view of this, Ras says he has been encouraged by Nat Addo's pledge of commitment to his (Ras) bid, adding that despite the fact that Nat Addo lost the Ablekuma North seat to him, he was really happy that his opponent had pledged his commitment to work with him; a move he believed would enable him win the parliamentary seat come 2012.

"I'm very encouraged by the level of magnanimity that Nathaniel Addo exhibited; I am really happy about that. He's pledged his commitment to work with me; some of his supporters have called me and that is very encouraging".

Ras explained that his victory over the weekend was a combination of hard work, luck and bringing to bear issues on the ground; an effort he said sunk well with the delegates, hence his victory.

On whether his apology to president Mills prior to the primaries aided in his win, Ras explained that since President Mills was the leader of the party, he was committed to helping him win the 2012 election to enable him achieve the "Better Ghana" agenda he has for the country.

He added that he believed the NDC was the best party for Ghana as compared to the NPP and as such would prefer the NDC in power to the NPP since the NDC has the well being of Ghanaians at heart.

He stressed that though he knew winning the Ablekuma North seat would not be easy, he was confident that he would win and provide the needed leadership the constituency needed.
