Ministry of Environment presents free laptops to four SHS in the Eastern Region

Accra, Nov 25, GNA-The Ministry of Environment Science and Technology on Thursday presented 110 free laptops to four Senior High Schools (SHS) from the Eastern Region in Accra as part of Government's One-Laptop-Per-Child Project.

The presentation, which was made by the sector Minister, Ms Sherry Ayittey went to Oyoko Methodist Senior High, Pope John Senior High and Minor Seminary, Ghana Senior High and Koforidua Senior High Schools.

Briefing the media, the minister stated that government was committed to enhancing the learning abilities of students, especially the study of science and technology in schools and that the presentation was therefore important to achieve that.

“There cannot be effective study of Information Technology in schools without the needed support; we really want to make the study of ICT among our students much easier with these laptops” she said.

Oyoko Methodist Senior High School received 50 laptops, while Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary, Ghana Senior High and Koforidua Senior High Schools got 20 laptops each.

Mr Frank Eshun, Headmaster of Oyoko SHS on behalf of the other beneficiary schools expressed appreciation to the Minister and government for their support and promised to make the most of the donation to enhace ICT in their schools.
