Samsung is continuing its aggressive marketing strategy in Ghana, with the   introduction of new products at The  Samsung Week Celebration at the National Theater, Accra.

The ceremony officially launched the world largest television set, a Samsung 72-inch LED television.

Among other products on display were the Samsung Galaxy Smart Phones, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Samsung Smart Internet TV, Samsung Digital Camera Range and various home products such as washing machines, fridges and air-conditioners.

Whilst the Samsung Galaxy tab has been pulled off from the IFA electronics fair in Berlin due to legal battles between Apple and Samsung, the tab was however on display at the National Theater.

When asked about this issue, employees highlighted the constant legal conflicts between the two companies, and that the business of patents was very tricky.

'As far as a tablet goes, there is no other way to present them. Also, if you look at the product, it is actually very different from the Apple Ipad,' recounted an official of Samsung.

Speaking at the ceremony were the Managing Director of Samsung Ghana, Mr. Bangryong Kim, and the Deputy Minister of Communication, Ernest Attuquaye Armah. The Head of Samsung's Telecommunications, Digital Display and Home Appliances sectors was also present.

Commenting on Samsung's presence in Ghana, Mr. Bangryong stated: 'Samsung currently holds around 35% of the mobile market shares in Ghana,' yet was taking on a regional role to help expand to different positions in the African market, a task which was becoming increasingly difficult from afar.

With a market share of more than 40% in Africa, Samsung is keen to appear prominently in the continent's untapped market, using the month old office in Ghana as a hub and directorial office to other West and Central African Nations.

Samsung is growing rapidly in Africa, doubling in size from fifteen to forty-two countries in the last year. Ghana will be the head office to Ivory Coast, Sao Tome, Gabon, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, Senegal and Nigeria. The company is registered as the 'Samsung Electronics West Africa Ltd (Samsung Ghana)'.

In accordance with the 'Beautiful Ghana Through the eyes of Samsung' project, many flat screen televisions displayed the workings of unrecognised Ghanaian artists, in an attempt to help the budding artist community.

The Regional Head of Advertising and Marketing said this was all in accordance with corporate responsibility. He also spoke of a year long event calendar of festivals and workshops aimed at developing the people of Ghana.

'As the organisation expands, you have to build more local empowerment.'

Samsung has also entered into a partnership with NGO World Visions to develop ICT Learning Centers for the Obuom Community in the Ashanti Region, in accordance with an initiative to better technological education of the future generations.
