Burkina Faso's Minister of Defence, Yero Boly, has called for stronger military co-operation between Ghana and Burkina Faso. This, he said, will lead to the creation of a peaceful atmosphere appropriate for the development of two countries.
Mr. Boly said this when he called on the Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Joseph Smith, at the office in Accra. Mr. Boly said his country is particularly interested in sharing experience on peacekeeping operations and exchange of military trainees for the betterment of partners.
The Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Smith, said there is the need to tighten security to check cross-border crimes such as drug and child trafficking as well as smuggling of ammunition. The Defence Minister also called for a new friendship between Ghana and Burkina Faso aimed at bettering the lives of their people.
He said they have to break loose from abject poverty and deprivation into life of dignity with adequate access to water, food, shelter, health and education.
The Burkinabe Defence Minister later laid a wreath at the Nkrumah Mausoleum.
