Petty traders in Kumasi are demonstrating against what they describe as 'hiking of hawkers licensing fee' by the metropolitan assembly.
The assembly has increased the quarterly fee from 50 pesewas to three Ghana cedis, in addition to a daily toll of twenty Ghana pesewas.
A group of agitated hawkers trooped to the premises of Luv Fm to register their protest. They say the new fee would negatively impact on their livelihood.
They are appealing to the city authorities to review the percentage increase.
KMA officials however say the leadership of the trade associations was consulted before the fee was fixed.
Head of Revenue, James Akoto tells Luv Fm it is too late to reverse a decision the assembly had legislated.
