The 2028 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged members of the party to remain united to secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
The former Vice President said the party’s ability to unite after its internal elections would be critical to its efforts to return to power.
Dr Bawumia made the call on Sunday, August 16, when the newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives, led by Chairman-elect Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, paid a courtesy call on him.
He said the party must put its internal contests behind it and bring together the talents of all members to strengthen its campaign ahead of the 2028 elections.
“There is a lot of work ahead of us, and we are going to do that work in unity. If we are united, I'm telling you, we will win 2028. Unity is the key ingredient for victory," Dr Bawumia said.
He congratulated the newly elected regional executives and commended them for their commitment to the party.
Dr Bawumia said the ongoing reorganisation of the NPP, from the polling station level through to the regional level, is laying the foundation for the party’s return to power.
The process, he noted, would be completed with the national executive elections scheduled for October 3.
He said the newly elected executives must use their positions to bring all members together and make use of their talents in the interest of the party.
“If we keep our talents, you know, at home or in the cupboard, it doesn't help the party. We want to use everybody's talents to get victory,” he said.
Dr Bawumia also expressed confidence in the new Greater Accra Regional leadership, led by Dr Okoe-Boye, to help the party improve its electoral fortunes in the region.
He said the ultimate objective of the party’s reorganisation is to build a united NPP capable of winning the 2028 general elections.

Go to Israel and down to Damascus, and unite the NPP; still, your party will not win the 2028 elections. What will give the NPP a little consideration is to bring Ken Ofori-Atta to Ghana if the NPP says he hasn't committed any crime. Thus, as long as he is there, Ghanaians will always consider the NPP not only corrupt, but the most dangerous political party to avoid if country has to be a successful country.
