INFORMATION reaching DAILY GUIDE on Monday indicates that the controversial Member of Parliament (MP) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB), , has appointed seven constituency appointees without consulting the elected constituency executives, incurring the wrath of party members.

He was alleged to have also threatened not to work with six elected constituency executives in his constituency for no apparent reason.

A source close to DAILY GUIDE said Mr. Appiah-Ofori, during the constituency election, sponsored nine persons to contest the position, but luck eluded him when only three of the sponsored members got the nod.

The source further said in view of that Mr. Appiah-Ofori, on November 21 2009, was alleged to have informed his Chairman, Frank Nkrumah, to call all the constituency officials to a meeting at his house to appoint the remaining seven executives on November 22, 2009 - a situation which compelled the six elected executives to boycott the meeting since they claimed the party has its own office and that anything concerning the party should be held at the party office.

The source disclosed that on that faithful Sunday, the elected executives went to the party's office only to realize that it had been locked. All their efforts to trace Mr. Nkrumah, the organizer and treasurer, all close confidants of Mr. Appiah-Ofori, proved futile.

The source further hinted that they later received information at the regional party office that the Chairman and Mr. Appiah-Ofori had submitted a list of the seven appointees. The situation compelled them to also submit another list.

According to a DAILY GUIDE source, both parties were assembled by the regional executives and asked to settle the case amicably, and to appoint the executives.

The source further said immediately they went back, the Chairman, together with the MP, submitted another list without consulting the other officials, making them very furious.

When contacted, Mr. Appiah-Ofori told this reporter to tell her informant that he is a fool, and that the NPP constitution does not give him the mandate to do that.

“I know it is the former DCE who is behind all these allegations so please tell him that I will imprison him very soon”, he threatened.

In a telephone interview with Mr. Nkrumah, he insisted this reporter name her informant before he would comment on the issue.

For his part, the first Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Asiedu, confirmed the issue and appealed to the national executives to step in since Mr. Appiah-Ofori is not willing to abide by the order of the regional executives.

When contacted, the Central Regional Chairman of NPP, Dankwa Smith, confirmed the matter but was quick to add that he has ordered both sides to select 30 people and vote for seven out of the lot.
