ALHAJI IDDRISU Bature of Alhaji & Alhaji fame has stated that the ex-President Rawlings factor in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will affect President Atta Mills' chances of seeking re-election on the ticket of the ruling party.
According to him, the threat would be aggravated should the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, and Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, become successful in their bid to become Vice Chairperson and Chairman of the party respectively.
Bature made these disclosures while speaking to Yaw Adu-Boakye aka Omanhene, host of Kessben Fm's morning show yesterday.
Bature, who claimed to be an NDC sympathizer, noted that ex-President Rawlings' control of the party would be greater when his cohorts win key national executive positions in the party such as chairman and vice chairman.
He categorically emphasized that if the above scenario came to fruition, then President Mills should be ready to kowtow to the dictates of ex-President Rawlings before his ambition of seeking re-election could yield dividend.
“If these two people succeed in their bid as chairman and vice chairman respectively, then President Mills will have to kowtow to Mr. Rawlings or forget about seeking re-election on the ticket (of the party),” he stressed.
Having amply demonstrated that he had fallen out with President Mills, Alhaji Bature noted that he had no doubt that ex-President Rawlings would kick against the re-election of Professor Mills as the party's presidential candidate for the 2012 elections.
Mrs. Rawlings is lacing her boots to vie for the position of first Vice Chairperson in the party's upcoming national delegates' conference.
Dr Spio-Garbrah, who initially announced his interest in the First Vice Chairmanship position, is said to be now eyeing the National Chairmanship position in which he would have to battle the incumbent, Dr Kwabena Adjei.

There is nothing wrong when Konadu becomes a chair woman but the questions is for what purpose? what is the brain behind? Therefore, plead to all the party members to do their own investigation and should grow and are people of current. Type of leaders we need in Ghana today is the leader that would allow the people to participate and just not leading. Ghana today needs intellectuals that are flexible, responsive and ready to learn and change towards this accelarating pace of time. Also, th...
