Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde campaigns against maternal mortality & other values in Freetown

Those that have labeled Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Nollywood actress (of both English and Yoruba genre) an ambassador have made no mistakes; on account of her meritorious service the woman of rare virtues on Tuesday accompanied the Secretary General of Amnesty International, Irene Khan, to Freetown, Sierra Leone, to launch a campaign meant to reduce maternal deaths.

The campaign was equally targeted on those other factors which can precipitate maternal death and how to accordingly avoid them.

Omotola and Irene visits came on the eve of a world leaders' meeting holding on Wednesday in New York (USA) to discuss increased funding for healthcare in developing countries especially in those of the African States.

Omotola's outstanding efforts so far are geared towards working with Amnesty International to intensify awareness and ownership by the concerned adults, about the high incidence of maternal deaths in Sierra Leone joined in the launching of a report, Out of Reach: The Cost of Maternal Health in Sierra Leone, during the visit.

The report uses graphical representation and personal testimonials from participating audience to show how women and girls are often unable to access lifesaving treatment because they are too poor to pay for it in Freetown. The outcome was considered to be worthwhile and purposeful, and ultimately the objective was not defeated.

Khan and Jalade-Ekeinde's visit to Sierra Leone marks the start of Amnesty International's action against maternal mortality in the country. A campaign caravan will tour the country over the coming weeks providing information on maternal health.

With this recent breakthrough recorded by Omotola in the interest of humanity, Africans and non African alike have described her as a rare phenomenon that perfectly takes care of her family at large, doing justice to the show-biz, and now on another laudable mission of a life saving campaigns, no doubt she has made an unbeatable milestone in womanhood.

No wonder recently this year in United States of America (precisely Washington DC) she was presented with an award of Excellence by the organization of African Female Entrepreneurs (OAFE) for her exceptional achievements and rare virtues in Entertainment and, her commitment to the less privileged.
