The sterling performance of New Edubiase United FC, which earned them one of the three premiership tickets to the 2009 /2010 Glo Premier League, has attracted the corporate world's attention. And baring any hitches, the team would receive a huge financial package from an undisclosed corporate entity, the Chronicle Sports understands.
Meanwhile, the team' return to New Edubiase after its conquest was greeted with a rousing welcome from their teaming supporters and residents in and around the New Edubiase municipality, with the whole township awash with the team's colours of blue and yellow.
They were met on arrival by the supporters at Assin Fosu in the Central Region, who led the team through some towns along the main Assin Fosu-Obuasi highway, to some principal streets and finally called on the chief of New Edubiase - Nana Asiamah Oguashie II It was part of activities marking the homecoming of the team, after emerging winners in the Zone 2 Middle League.
In his remarks, Nana Asiamah Oguashie II congratulated the team on their qualification to the premiership and for bringing glory and joy to Edubiaseman.
Nana Asiamah said the traditional authority has allocated a very large tract of land for the team, to be developed into a mini Stadium, which will be used as the team's home grounds.
He also promised to offer financial support for the Stadium project. He advised management and the playing body not to be carried away by the qualification, but must rather esteem discipline and hard work in their quest to make a mark in the elite league.
