MDCC installs new Akaboha

Gomoa Mozano, (C/R) Aug. 27, GNA- The General Council of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC), on Tuesday installed Prophet Mokna Jeeba Fiifi

Jehu-Appiah, as the new General Head Prophet and Akaboha IV of the church, at a ceremony at Gomoa Mozano, in the Central Region.

The installation coincided with the celebration of the Annual Peace Festival of the church, which has been on hold for years, due to a protracted leadership impasse, which dragged on in court.

As part of the installation ceremony, Prophet Jehu-Appiah 50 was carried in a palanquin through the principal streets of the town.

The teeming members of the church cheered their new leader, amidst brass band music and other fanfare, before converging at the Jubilee Temple.

The 10 days festival is on the theme: “Reconciliation- a tool for development.”

The heavy presence of armed police personnel, led by Chief Superintendent Owusu Donyina provided security for the event.

Prophet Jehu-Appiah's installation followed the dismissal of an appeal filed by Akaboha III at a Court of Appeal in Accra, against the Agona Swedru High ruling to remove him as the Head of MDCC.

The maiden speech delivered by Akaboha IV asked members of the church to embark on an urgent soul-searching mission, to bring the MDCC to its former position of glory.

“We are facing a moment that demands each one of us making fundamental commitment to the narrow path of discipline and dedication,” he said.

The General Prophet underscored the need for the spiritual growth of the church, which he noted demands the love for prayer and the holiness of members.

He said the material take-off of the church would also require collective honesty and self-sacrifice.

Prophet Jehu-Appiah said: “If each of member vow to turn things around, Musama will once again win the respect of the entire body of Christ to maintain its good image.”

He called for the re-birth of MDCC to enable it to play significant role in the social, economic and spiritual up-bringing of members.

Prophet Jehu-Appiah expressed the hope that government would continue to maintain law and order at Mozano during and after the celebration of the festival.

Reverend Sammy Jehu-Appiah, General Secretary of MDCC, urged members to ignore rumours being peddled in the media that there was bloodshed at Mozano, adding that there is absolute peace at the headquarters of the church.

The MDCC was established by a former Catechist of the Methodist Church, Prophet Jemisimiham Jehu-Appiah of blessed memory in 1917 as a prayer movement and got registered in 1922 as a church.

The founder, who became the Akaboha I, was succeeded by his son, the late Prophet Mathapoly Moses Jehu-Appiah in 1948, who led the church till August 28, 1972 as Akaboha II, when he passed away.

Prophet Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah took over as Akaboha III, but was defrocked for immoral conduct, which was against the teachings and doctrines of the Pentecostal church.

The new Akaboha the son of Akaboha II is married with two children.
