Muntaka a victim of internal wrangling in NDC

An opinion leader of the Zongo Community in Kumasi has endorsed claims by some youth in the Asawasi Constituency suggesting their MP and former Minister of Sports is a victim of internal political wrangling within the NDC.

Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Council of Ulamau and Imams, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim, however rejects comments reportedly made by Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak that he had been disowned by the party.

Alhaji Ibrahim was speaking to Luv FM during a courtesy call on the Muslim Community by Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive Samuel Sarpong at the Central Mosque.

Alhaji Ibrahim also condemned last week's violent demonstration by Asawase NDC youth in protest of Alhaji Mubarak's resignation despite being cleared of allegations of excess expenditure claims.

The rampaging youth had alleged the former Minister was forced to leave office, prompting the resignation en bloc of the Asawasi Constituency executives.

Alhaji Muntaka himself is quoted in a report in the The Chronicle newspaper to have said the NDC had disowned him.

However Alhaji Ibrahim says the issue is more of personality differences than a party plot.

He believes the allegations leveled against the former Sports Minister will not in any way affect his political career.
