Peace Seekers International, a Non Governmental Organisation which is into peace advocacy and other security-related matters in Ghana, has warned the New Patriotic Party against any attempt to replace Nana Akufo-Addo as its flagbearer for the year 2012.
The organization stated that it would be politically suicidal to replace Nana Akufo-Addo and therefore called on the party's leadership to go for an early congress to endorse him as the party"s candidate for the 2012 elections.
Addressing the media in Tamale at the weekend, Alhaji Abubakari Danaa, national coordinator of Peace Seekers International commended Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP family for a good fight and assured them of the organisation's commitment and loyalty to his political career from now till the next elections.
The organisation also commended Ghanaians for the mature manner they handled themselves before, during and after the just-ended elections in Ghana and hoped that the same standard would be maintained to enable the incoming administration to move the nation forward.
Alhaji Danaa noted that Ghana had come of age in her democratic dispensation and appealed to all and sundry to co-exist peacefully in the years ahead, in the spirit of national reconciliation.
He congratulated President-elect John Evans Atta Mills on his victory speech and urged him to reconcile the nation, which he (Danaa) said was divided along tribal lines.
