Winneba, July 23, GNA– The Student Representative Council (SRC) and the teaching staff of the Winneba Senior High School on Wednesday presented assorted items including plastic chairs, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, dustbins and buckets of paints to the school.
The items worth hundreds of Ghana cedis are to help enhance teaching and learning.
Mr. Paul Acquah, President of the SRC, expressed the student’s appreciation to the school management for the dedication and hard work, which has yielded improved academic performances and enhanced discipline in the school.
Mr. Dadzie Bonney, Head of Mathematics Department, did the presentation on behalf of the teaching staff.
Mr. Samuel Danso, Managing Director of Sabedan Company also presented a refrigerator and a television set to the school.
Receiving the items separately, the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Cecilia Kwakye Cofie thanked them for their support towards the development of the school and assured them of using the items for the purposed for which they were intended.
She expressed her gratitude to the school’s Board Chairman, Professor Kwesi Yankah for providing the School’s Naval Cadet Corp with a set of uniforms.
She also thanked the Union Rural Bank Board Chairman, Mr. Kwesi Essel Koomson, and Dowuona Hammond Family of Accra as well as all persons who in diverse ways are contributing towards the running of the school.
Mrs. Kwakye Cofie appealed to the old boys of the school and other philanthropists to assist the school procure a vehicle preferably a pick-up and also to help rehabilitate the dilapidated dining hall.
She called on the old students to be part of the 60th anniversary launching of the school, which falls on November 29, 2008.
