The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has accused the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Dr George Smith-Graham, of making unilateral decisions in ongoing negotiations over its demands without adequately consulting the association.

JUSAG said the Commission’s approach undermined the negotiation process and violated the principles of consultation and consensus required to resolve the dispute.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, November 3, the association’s President, Samuel Afotey Otu, warned that members would not accept any agreement or decision reached without their involvement.

He called on Dr Smith-Graham and the Commission to comply with the legal provisions governing the determination of salaries and conditions of service for Judicial Service employees.

“You cannot just sit in your office and then take unilateral decisions and think they will bind on us. We are with a justice institution, and we know what the law is. So we want to tell them that the law has already been stated clearly, and they should comply with it. If not, we will still remain where we are,” he said.

The concerns come as JUSAG continues its indefinite nationwide strike, which began on Monday, November 2, over delays in securing approval and implementation of the 2026 salary review for Judicial Service staff.

The association is demanding presidential approval of the Judicial Council’s recommendations on the review, alongside payment of the revised salaries in November and outstanding arrears covering January to October 2026.
