The Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG), Dr. John Enyonam Kpikpi, has urged students of Kpando Senior High School (KPASEC) to embrace integrity, honesty and responsible leadership as critical values for national development.
He said Ghana requires a new generation of leaders who will uphold accountability and integrity, particularly in the management of public resources and in building trust in human relationships.
Dr. Kpikpi made the call when he addressed students, staff, parents and alumni at the school’s 73rd Speech and Prize-Giving Day held on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The celebration was held under the theme: “Advancing Academic Excellence Through Discipline and Innovation: Collective Responsibility.”
He attributed some of the country’s development setbacks to the lack of integrity among persons entrusted with positions of authority, stressing that moral education must form a core part of students’ formative years.
He therefore called on school authorities and education stakeholders to deliberately instil honesty and ethical conduct in students, noting that integrity must begin in the classroom.
Dr. Kpikpi particularly cautioned students against examination malpractice, explaining that habits formed during academic life often shape future conduct in leadership.
“What you do now when writing your examinations is what you will be doing when you become a Minister of Finance. If you tell the truth in examinations now, you will build that into your life,” he stated.
He also encouraged academically gifted students to support colleagues facing academic challenges, instead of looking down on them.
According to him, responsible leadership demands compassion, empathy and commitment to the growth of others, especially the vulnerable and less privileged.
He further challenged students to develop a spirit of service, to think beyond personal interest and to explore innovative ideas that could transform their communities and contribute to national development.
As part of his engagement, Dr. Kpikpi introduced his book titled _Politics Belongs to God_, which he said seeks to educate readers on politics, leadership, governance and the role of God in public affairs, and encouraged interested students to obtain copies for further discussion.
