Kpando Senior High School (KPASEC) has maintained its reported position as the best-performing senior high school in the Volta Region for the second consecutive year, after recording an 80 per cent pass rate in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The latest result marks a five-percentage-point improvement over the 75 per cent pass rate the school recorded in 2025, consolidating its academic lead in the region.
The achievement was announced during the school’s 73rd Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebration held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, on the school’s campus at Kpando.
The ceremony brought together students, teaching and non-teaching staff, members of the old students association, parents, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to celebrate more than seven decades of educational excellence.
Several students and members of staff were honoured during the event for outstanding academic performance, dedication and contributions to the development of the institution.
According to school authorities, the improvement reflects sustained efforts to strengthen academic discipline, enhance teaching and learning methods and create a more supportive academic environment for students.
Maintaining its reported regional distinction for two consecutive years, authorities say, underscores the school’s commitment to sustaining high academic standards and continuous improvement.
Addressing the gathering, the Headmaster, Mr Charles Evans Apreku Togbe Boateng, commended the teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedication, sacrifice and commitment to the school’s progress.
He said the school’s achievements were the result of collective effort and teamwork, particularly the tireless work of staff in supporting students’ academic and personal development.
He also lauded alumni of the school for their continued support and contributions toward improving infrastructure and conditions on campus.
This year’s celebration was organised under the auspices of the 2001 Year Group, which returned to its alma mater to mark its Silver Jubilee, 25 years after completion, in line with KPASEC’s longstanding tradition where anniversary year groups take responsibility for the annual celebration.
Established 73 years ago, Kpando Senior High School has produced generations of professionals serving in various fields across Ghana and beyond, with management saying the latest feat provides renewed motivation to consolidate gains as the school prepares for its 74th year.
The school said the awards presented are expected to inspire current students to remain disciplined, focused and committed to academic excellence.
