The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission has established a Scientific Committee to oversee preparations for the third edition of the African Forum for Research and Innovation (FARI-2027), scheduled to be held in 2027.
The committee held its inaugural meeting from October 27 to 30, at the Coconut Grove Accra Hotel in Ghana.
The meeting, organised through the Commission's Directorate of Education, Science and Culture, was held under the theme: “Rethinking the education system to stimulate innovation and development.”
It marked the formal commencement of scientific preparations for the forum, which seeks to promote Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) as drivers of socio-economic development across the West African region.
The four-day meeting also culminated in the adoption of an operational roadmap for FARI-2027.
It paved the way for the launch of calls for research papers and applications ahead of the forum.
