The campaign team of aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Dr Akwasi Opong-Fosu, has announced that he will launch his nationwide campaign tour in the Volta Region on Monday, November 2, 2026.
A press release issued on October 29, 2026, and signed by the Convenor of the AOF4C Campaign Team, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, said the decision to begin the tour in the region was in recognition of its longstanding loyalty, sacrifices and significant contributions to the NDC’s growth and electoral successes.
The team also described the Volta Region as strategically important to the party’s future, explaining that the visit would provide an opportunity to engage party stakeholders, listen to their concerns and present Dr Opong-Fosu’s vision for the party.
The campaign said his agenda was centred on consolidating the NDC’s achievements, protecting the legacy of President John Dramani Mahama and positioning the party to retain political power in 2028 and beyond.
The planned engagements are expected to involve regional and constituency executives, delegates, branch officers, party elders, cadres, former and serving Members of Parliament, former and current government appointees and other key stakeholders.
According to the campaign team, the interactions will focus on building consensus towards a stronger, united and more inclusive party.
The campaign will be anchored on what it describes as the 3Vs — Votes, Voice and Viability — with the aim of ensuring that grassroots members are recognised, given a platform to express their concerns and economically empowered.
The statement presented Dr Opong-Fosu as a founding member of the NDC, former Member of Parliament, former Minister of State and experienced public administrator.
It argued that his record in public service, institutional knowledge and commitment to party unity made him the right candidate to lead the NDC in consolidating its achievements and securing victory in the 2028 general elections and beyond.
