President John Dramani Mahama has welcomed criticism of his administration, saying public feedback and differing opinions help him assess his leadership and make better decisions in governing the country.

The President said he was not troubled by comments questioning his government's policies or the direction of the country, describing public scrutiny as an important element of democratic governance.

He made the remarks during an engagement with members of the Ghanaian community in Moscow, Russia, where he stressed that criticism should be viewed as an opportunity to identify shortcomings and improve performance rather than as a personal attack.

Mr Mahama said his priority remained delivering his best for Ghana and that he was prepared to listen to citizens who disagreed with his decisions or offered alternative suggestions on how the country should be governed.

“I don't mind if people tell me I am leading the country in the wrong direction because I am trying to do my best. Criticism helps me to do better. So when people criticise me and say this is not right, I am not offended.”

He also addressed criticism of his presidency on social media, assuring Ghanaians that he was aware of the discussions, videos and comments circulating on platforms such as TikTok.

The President indicated that he follows online conversations and takes note of the views citizens express about his administration.

“So all your TikToks and things, don't think I don't see them. I see them,” he emphasised.
