The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has engaged, trained and deployed 11,788 beneficiaries under its Community Police Assistant Model as of September 2026, representing a 98.2% success rate, Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale has announced.

The initiative is designed to provide human resource support to the Ghana Police Service while giving young people practical exposure to policing and opportunities to explore careers in the security sector.

Mr Basintale disclosed this at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, October 21, where he outlined the agency’s performance under its Youth in Community Service and Security Model.

“As of September 2026 this year, the YEA engaged, trained and deployed a total of 11,788 beneficiaries under the Community Police Assistant Model, and these people have been deployed all across the country, representing a 98.2% success rate,” he said.

The YEA CEO also reported progress under the Community Fire Assistance Model, which provides young beneficiaries with exposure to fire prevention, community education and public safety activities.

As of September 30, the agency had recorded 4,888 beneficiaries under the programme against an annual target of 5,000, representing 97.8% of its target.

The agency also exceeded its annual target under the Prison Service Assistance Programme, recording 5,207 beneficiaries against a target of 5,000 as of September 30, representing 104.1% achievement.

The programme provides human resource support to the Ghana Prisons Service, with beneficiaries assisting administrative and operational activities while gaining practical workplace experience.

The YEA CEO further highlighted the Community Medical First Responders Programme, which supports the Ghana Ambulance Service by equipping young people with basic medical support and emergency response skills within the limits of their training and assigned responsibilities.

He described the initiative as a new intervention introduced under his leadership, aimed at expanding opportunities for young people while supporting essential public services.

“I dare say that from 1957 till date, no model, no model, as such, has been implemented, and so this is the first of its kind,” he said.
