A 19-year-old woman has been remanded into police custody for allegedly stabbing her 33-year-old boyfriend, Enoch Abrokwa, to death during a misunderstanding at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuella Asante, is alleged to have stabbed Mr Abrokwa in the chest with a piece of broken glass during a confrontation at his business premises on Friday, October 9.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the deceased was rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to the Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery but died on October 14 while receiving treatment.
“The confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in the accused person stabbing the deceased in the chest with a piece of broken glass,” the Police said in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 21.
The Police said the suspect was arrested on October 10 after the complainant and three other people brought her to the Police.
She reportedly admitted to stabbing Mr Abrokwa and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The suspect has been ordered to reappear before the court on November 3.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and avoid violence.
“The public is also encouraged to cooperate with the Police as investigations continue and appropriate action is taken in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
