Honorary Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has criticised the police over their handling of sexual abuse allegations against the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), questioning why he has not been arrested.

His comments follow an investigative report by journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni detailing allegations of sexual abuse involving female students at the school, with the number of students who have reportedly come forward rising to 19.

The allegations include rape, sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct, raising concerns about the protection of students and the handling of complaints against school authorities.

In a social media post on Wednesday, October 21, Bentil accused the state of applying the law differently depending on the status and political connections of those involved.

The social commentator compared the situation with the arrest and detention of a nursing mother over allegations that she aided the publication of false news involving the anonymous TikToker 'Ghana Jollof'.

He argued that the response to the two cases raises questions about equal treatment under the law.

He further condemned what he described as the unequal application of justice, suggesting that political connections sometimes influence how authorities respond to allegations of wrongdoing.

“The state system that fished out a nursing mother, arrested and detained her for weeks on the SUSPICION that she was a FRIEND of an UNIDENTIFIED PERSON who insulted the President, has decided that it is ok to let a Party man relax in his house after credible accusations by over a dozen girls of rape,” he wrote.

“The law is really an ass!! The powerful ride it to trample the weak,” he added.

The allegations against the Obuasi SHTS headmaster have drawn public attention to the safety of students and the accountability of school officials.

The case has also prompted calls for thorough investigations, protection for affected students and appropriate action by the relevant authorities.

It seems Kofi Bentil is now the head of "The NPP's Awaiting NDC's Scandal" for the political campaign. The opposition has no message, therefore, desperate, always looking for something to hold on and use for campaign but this unfortunate will never bring the NPP back to power, no matter how hard they push.
