The Agona West Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to the proper use of public funds, saying it has complied with government guidelines on the allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to address the needs of residents.

The Municipal Finance Officer, Bashiru Saeed, who spoke on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Gyamfi Odoom, said the Assembly had accounted for funds received and deployed them in accordance with the relevant guidelines.

He made the remarks at a forum involving assemblies from Agona West, Agona East, Gomoa Central and Gomoa West, where the participating local authorities presented accounts of their stewardship and outlined development projections for the coming years.

Mr. Saeed acknowledged the contributions of traditional authorities and civil society groups to efforts to generate more IGF to supplement government funding and support human and infrastructure development across the municipality.

He pledged the Assembly's continued commitment to providing residents with access to essential social amenities to improve their living conditions.

Meanwhile, the Gomoa Central District Coordinating Director, Evans Mark Andoh, said the district's performance assessment had received positive feedback from participants at the regional budget and projections forum.

He maintained that development projects undertaken by the district had been duly executed.

However, Mr. Andoh appealed to traditional authorities, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central and the Central Regional Land Commission to expedite efforts to resolve the land dispute between the people of Gomoa and Effutu.

He said resolving the dispute would help facilitate the generation of internally generated revenue for development.

The Regent of Agona Swedru, Nana Kweku Essieni V, urged the Agona West Municipal Assembly to clearly identify projects funded through IGF.

He said marking such projects would help residents appreciate how revenue collected through taxes and fees was being used and encourage them to meet their tax obligations.
