James Gbandan Konzabre has filed his nomination to contest the position of Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region, taking a major step towards his ambition to lead the party’s regional administration.
Mr Konzabre, a former Dean of Presiding Members in the Upper East Region, previously declared his intention to contest the position, citing his experience in party organisation, local governance, education and public service.
He is seeking to become the party’s next Regional Secretary as the NDC prepares for its 2026 regional executive elections.
Mr Konzabre served for 16 years as the Upper East Regional Coordinator of the NDC’s Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), where he was involved in organising, mobilising and mentoring young party members.
His professional and public service experience also includes serving as a School Improvement Advisor under the Ghana Education Service’s SHS/SHTS/STEM Improvement Programme.
Since 2025, he has served as the Upper East Regional Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme.
His other public service engagements include membership of the Governing Council and Audit Committee of Gambaga College of Education, the Advisory Board of the Zuarungu Nursing and Midwifery Training College, and the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG).
Mr Konzabre has built his campaign around the theme “Leadership That Works,” highlighting his grassroots political experience and record of public service.
His nomination comes as the NDC’s internal electoral process advances across the country, with the party’s timetable scheduling the filing of nominations for regional executive positions for October 14 and 15, 2026.
Vetting of aspirants is scheduled for October 16 and 17, ahead of the regional elections slated for November 14 and 15, 2026.
