The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has monitored the disbursement of grants under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme at Ziavi Dzogbe in the Volta Region to ensure that beneficiaries receive their payments.
The visit allowed the Minister to observe the payment process, interact with beneficiaries and assess the delivery of grants following the nationwide payment exercise.
Dr Lartey stressed the need for regular monitoring to ensure that the funds reach eligible households. She urged beneficiaries to use the money wisely to meet their household needs and called on caregivers receiving payments on behalf of beneficiaries to ensure the funds are used in their best interests.
For the current exercise, two payment cycles are being disbursed together, with the amount paid depending on household size and vulnerability status.
Households with two members are receiving GH¢784 if classified as vulnerable and GH¢760 otherwise. Those with three to four members are receiving GH¢984 and GH¢904, respectively, while households with five or more members are receiving GH¢1,260 for vulnerable households and GH¢1,188 for those not classified as vulnerable.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening social protection programmes and ensuring that financial assistance reaches households that need it most.
