A 30-year-old farmer, Emmanuel Kwofie, has been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting his wife, Diana Mensah, at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.
Kwofie was convicted by the Agona Nkwanta District Court on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after pleading guilty to the assault charge.
The court, presided over by Mr Kuma Selorm Dzata, subsequently sentenced him on his own plea.
Police investigations established that Kwofie and Mensah, a second-hand clothing dealer, are married and live together at Domeabra in the Agona Nkwanta Municipality.
The incident occurred on October 8, 2026, after Kwofie accused his wife of having an extramarital affair.
He subsequently subjected her to severe physical assault, an incident captured in a video that later went viral on social media.
The police arrested Kwofie on Monday, October 12, 2026, and subsequently arraigned him before the Agona Nkwanta District Court.
The court found him guilty and imposed the three-month prison sentence.
